Liverpool Plains Shire Council has released its Draft 2022 – 2025 Economic Development Strategy for public comment.

The draft Economic Development Strategy outlines how Liverpool Plains Shire Council will contribute to sustainable economic development for the current council term.

The 2022 – 2025 Draft Economic Strategy is built around four pillars;

Pillar 1 – Population Growth

Pillar 2 – Commercial Freight Strategy

Pillar 3 – Visitor Economy

Pillar 4 – Energy and Resources

“Population growth is the greatest challenge to our local economy and agriculture its greatest asset. The Draft 2022 – 2025 Economic Development Strategy outlines how Council will meet the challenge to grow our population over the coming decade and, through improvements to our road network, we will assist local producers get their product to market.” Councillor Doug Hawkins OAM said.

Council endorsed the Visitor Economy Strategy at the 3rd February meeting.  Community members have the opportunity to review the four pillars together and provide their feedback on Pillars 1, 2 and 4.

To facilitate community input into the Draft Economic Development Strategy, Council will be holding targeted consultations with key business and industry groups. 

Copies of the Draft 2022 – 2025 Draft Economic Strategy can be downloaded from Draft 2022-2025 Economic Development Strategy. 

Hard copies will be available for review at Council’s administration centre in Quirindi, the Werris Creek and Quirindi Libraries and the Visitor Information Centre in Willow Tree.

The deadline for submissions is 5pm, Monday 28th March.
