Changed traffic conditions for Remembrance Day, 11 November 2021

Remembrance Day is commemorated on 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month and Quirindi’s War Memorial Cenotaph will be the centre of a service to honour those men and women who served in Australia’s armed forces in the last 110 years.
Council has received a request from the Secretary of the Quirindi RSL Sub-Branch seeking approval to conduct the annual Remembrance Day Commemoration for approximately one hour from 11am at the T-intersection of George and Pryor Streets in Quirindi central business district.
The changed traffic conditions are to facilitate the commemoration service being conducted in a safe environment.
The temporary closure of the following roads will ensue from 10.30am, namely:
- George St northbound at Henry Street;
- George St southbound at Dalley St; and
- Pryor St at Railway Avenue.
Those vehicles parked in George St between Henry and Pryor and Pryor and Dalley streets and requiring egress while the Service is being conducted will be permitted to travel to the south only (between Henry and Pryor) and to the north only (between Pryor and Dalley Streets).
Heavy vehicles will be diverted around the CBD at Hill Street (for northbound movements) and Nowland St (for southbound movements).
Smaller vehicles will be permitted to proceed north and south at these two locations however only up until they reach Henry and Dalley Streets respectively. These movements will be coordinated by traffic control staff and appropriate advance warning signage; and
Motorists are requested to drive cautiously, take the time to read advance warning signage and obey the directions issued by traffic control staff.
The Commemorative service begins 10.45am with two minutes silence at 11am and service concludes at 11.15am. Roadblocks will be in place from 10.30am to 11.30am.
