LPSC library to host Sydney Writers Festival - Live and Local

Liverpool Plains Shire Council's Quirindi Library and Community Hub will be hosting one of Australia’s most loved forums for literature, ideas and storytelling, The Sydney Writers’ Festival will live-stream its headline events from Sydney to Quirindi on Friday 20 May 2022.

Prepare to be invigorated and engaged by conversations, debates and discussions featuring some of the world’s finest writers and thinkers. Four sessions will be held during the day and interested community members have the opportunity to register for one or all of the sessions by calling 6746 2350, or visiting the library at 193 George Street, Quirindi:

10.00am-11.00am         Art Spiegleman

For more than 50 years he has defined and redefined the world of visual storytelling. Art will reflect on his Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece MAUS, censorship and prejudice.

12.00pm-1.00pm     Michelle de Kretser & Christos Tsiolkas

Two of the biggest names in Australian literature. Michelle (Scary Monsters) and Christos (7 ½) come together to discuss their latest books.

2.00pm-3.00pm       Steve Tolz: Here Goes Nothing

Booker-shortlisted author discusses his highly anticipated new novel, Here goes nothing, with acclaimed author of The Believer, Sarah Krasnostein.

4.00pm-5.00pm             But Not Forgotten

Listen to the remembrance of writers past, including Jackie Huggins on bell hooks; Sarah Krasnostein on Joan Didion; Melissa Lucashenko on Keri                      Hulme, and others.

Audiences can also participate in live Q&A sessions at each event, sending questions straight to the Sydney stage.

Council’s Mayor, Cr Doug Hawkins OAM said the Community Hub accommodates a range of activities, with technology allowing us to connect across the Shire, and across the Country.
