At its June Ordinary Council meeting, Council endorsed the Liverpool Plains Shire Community Strategic Plan 2022-2032 (CSP).  The CSP, which is a requirement of the Local Government Act, will help Council develop strategies for achieving the community’s main priorities and aspirations for the future.

Mayor, Cr Doug Hawkins OAM said that Council undertook to listen to the community’s views through an extensive consultation process which provided an opportunity to review and refresh the community vision, objectives and strategies to the previous Liverpool Plains Community Strategic Plan 2027.

“Eleven community engagement session were held throughout the Shire which included a range of attendees from residents, indigenous groups, businesses through to school and TAFE students.  Initial community consultation was also undertaken via an online and phone survey platform due to COVID-19 restrictions.

“We heard you speak with passion about our community; we heard about your desire to be a sustainable, vibrant Shire; and your love of the natural environment that lends itself to growing the visitor economy.

“We heard of your support to grow the economy and our population; and that social and retail opportunities are a priority; as is the growth of value adding, labour intensive industries that complement and grow our agricultural base.

“Council thanks you for your participation and for the breadth and quality of views from people passionate about championing the best possible future.  We are committed to working towards the positive outcomes identified for our community that were developed from your ideas at our community consultation sessions.  Council looks forward to continuing to engage with the community as we work together towards the CSP vision for the future,” he concluded.
