Liverpool Plains Shire Council is encouraging residents and ratepayers to provide input into the development of a new 10-year Community Strategic Plan for the Liverpool Plains community.

Council’s General Manager, Jo Sangster, said the community feedback gained through the Our Plains, Our Future consultation will be provided to the newly elected Councillors following the upcoming local government elections in December and help shape their priorities for the next term of Council.

“The current Liverpool Plains Community Strategic Plan was developed in 2017 and we’ve seen a lot of changes in our community, environment and economy in the years since, so it’s timely that we engage with the community to make sure that the Community Strategic Plan continues to reflect their vision and aspirations for the future,” Ms Sangster said.

“While Council is responsible for taking the lead in developing the Community Strategic Plan, this is very much a community-owned plan and represents the community’s aspirations, not Councils.”

The Our Plains, Our Future consultation will be underpinned by a comprehensive survey seeking feedback on various issues across the four key themes of civic leadership, community, environment and economy.

The survey can be easily completed on Council’s website at www.liverpoolplains.nsw.gov.au and it is absolutely critical that Council hears from all sections of the community, including seniors, young people and those from culturally diverse backgrounds.

All survey responses will be collated and assessed by an independent market research company, Micromex Research, who will also be undertaking a phone survey of local residents in early December to help inform the process.

This consultation process will also help gather the data Council needs to make informed decisions about the future of various non-core services that we currently provide, and they’re keen to hear from residents as to what services they value and use most frequently.

Over the coming weeks, Council is encouraging all interested members of the community to visit its website, complete the survey and have their say.

The community survey closes Friday, 10 December 2021.
