Partnering with Promise

Liverpool Plains Shire Council and the Clontarf Foundation have partnered to facilitate an alliance towards creating opportunities through a targeted program for students. The project is aligned to the foundations key principles to improve the education, discipline, life skills, self-esteem, and employment prospects of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men.
This project is additionally aligned to the development Council’s Community Strategic Plan and Workforce Management plan requirements through encouraging our youth to become involved in the community as the leaders of tomorrow and while assisting the Shire’s education services meet future needs.
Delivered by Council’s Human Resources function, the initiative will provide several key experiences that harnesses on the fundamentals of action and participatory based learning for students and includes preparing students to learn, helping students to gain skills and assisting them in job readiness through understanding the expectations of an employer.
An Information session will also be held by Loren Frost, Area Support Officer at Apprenticeship Support Australia. The session will provide valuable insight to students as to how traineeships and apprenticeships work as a learning pathway that combines paid on-the-job training and formal study with a Registered Training Organisation.
General Manager Jo Sangster stated that as an employer, Council is well positioned to provide support towards the key principles of the Clontarf Foundation and youth in the community to assist with job seeking.
