Liverpool Plains Shire Council has proposed an amendment to the Fees and Charges Schedule-2024-2025 to include learn-to-swim and aqua aerobics. The Shire acknowledges the need for water safety in the community and plans to launch a learn-to-swim program at Werris Creek Pool this summer.

This initiative aims to provide structured swimming lessons for all ages, from infants to adults. The amendment to the fees and charges was endorsed by councillors at the August council meeting, and is now on public exhibition for 28 days ending 18 September 2024. Learn to swim classes will be priced at $15.00 per 30-minute lesson and $20.00 for a 15-minute private.

In addition to learn to swim, Council plans to introduce aqua aerobics priced at $15.00 for a 45-minute class. Offering low-impact, full-body workouts that are suitable for all ages and fitness levels, enhancing cardiovascular health, flexibility, and strength. For adults and those with limited mobility, aqua aerobics provides an accessible and enjoyable way to stay active. The council’s amendment reflects a commitment to fostering a safer, healthier, and more connected community by making these valuable programs available moving forward.

Both learn to swim and aqua aerobics will be provided by qualified instructors and both programs will be offered on a trial basis to test demand.
