The Liverpool Plains Shire Council’s newly open Quirindi Library and Community Hub has been given Special Acknowledgement by the judges in the prestigious Leo Kelly OAM Arts and Culture Award.
Announced late on Thursday morning at the Local Government NSW Annual Conference online awards, the Judges paid tribute to Liverpool Plains Shire Council’s entry in Division A: Population less than 30,000 people category.
The judges’ citation stated: “The new build concept looks fantastic and in-depth concept planning has occurred.
“The judges liked how council had worked in collaboration with their metro sister city (Blacktown City Council). This is a bold project for a small council,” it said.
Liverpool Plains Shire Council General Manager, Jo Sangster said the vision and commitment to excellence exhibited by the council staff is clearly seen in delivering such a high calibre facility for the community.
The library and community hub precinct are designed to facilitate community connectedness for all members of the public.
The General Manager expressed her thanks to the State and Federal Governments for working in close partnership with LPSC to deliver this outstanding community space.
Ms Sangster also thanked Quirindi’s sister city, Blacktown City Council for their assistance in the entry for the award.
