Liverpool Plains Shire Council is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from suitably experienced and qualified persons to fulfil the role of Independent Member on the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC).
ARIC has been established to promote strong corporate governance at Council and is responsible for providing independent assurance and assistance to Council on financial reporting, risk management, internal controls, governance, and internal and external audit and accountability responsibilities. Independent members of ARIC are paid a sitting fee of $1,000 (plus GST) per meeting, including all meeting preparation and attendance expenses. ARIC meets, on average, four (4) times a year and meeting attendance may be in person, by telephone, or by web conferencing.
Council is seeking to appoint one (1) independent external member to fulfil a vacancy. Appointment is subject to Council approval and will conclude on 1 September 2023.
Selection Criteria
The independent external member will possess demonstrated expertise in audit, risk and improvement.
The following selection criteria will be used in assessing the EOIs:
- Relevant professional qualifications
- Relevant professional knowledge and expertise
- Understanding of/ experience in Local Government
- Understanding of the role of corporate governance in organisations; and
- Current/prior experience on similar committees.
